Steven has been a photographer for over 30 years. His other areas of creative exploration are film special effects, video art and computer animation. He’s also a producer, organizing numerous video projects, film festivals and international exhibitions of photography.

During the 1980s Steven utilized state-of-the-art optical printer camera systems for creating 35mm motion picture special effects imagery. In 1983 he founded the first San Diego company to produce 3D computer animation.

In 1986 and 1987 Steven produced a series of theatrical exhibitions of computer animation at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla, which were the first such shows of their kind in the world. These were followed by a series of videos and DVDs in the 1990s, featuring cutting edge computer animation.
During the last ten years Steven has been spending a significant amount of time with his photographic art, and he has had the opportunity to exhibit his work in several one-man shows and juried exhibitions. Steven’s photography website is www.stevenchurchill.com.

Most recently, Steven has been producing a series of international exhibitions called the Art of Photography Show. These exhibits are each judged by a major museum curator. The website for this project is www.artofphotographyshow.com.

Living in a retirement community as a “youngster” is an experience I never thought I
would enjoy. My mother was diagnosed with dementia two years ago, so it was necessary
for me to move in with her to assist her everyday needs. Little did I know it would lead to
a deeper understanding of humanity, enhanced compassion, and an opportunity to document the
lives of senior citizens at this particular time in our culture. Health care is the prevailing
political concern, and its importance becomes glaring when dealing with the elderly.

There are many lively, active seniors who take advantage of the pools, golf course,
horse stables, art and photography studios, and clubs for every imaginable hobby.
There is also glaring loneliness and isolation. My goal is to present the good, the bad, the
beautiful, and the ugly of aging in America.

Are you ready to face your future?

For nearly two decades Tom M Johnson has been commissioned by a variety of journals to photograph the most established and provocative artists, performers, and intellectuals inhabiting Los Angeles, such as Frank Gehry, Tom Ford, Bill Maher, and Jared Diamond. However, it was 9/11 and its aftermath that compelled him to delve deeper into subject matter and to tune his focus upon long-term concepts. Tom’s first project, “Lakewood” returned him to the streets and neighborhoods of the suburb where he was raised in search of visuals and memories of his boyhood. His next endeavor brought him back to where he lived and romanced as a young man, Paris, the city that awakened his senses, and inspired him to become a photographer. There, he rode the Paris metro to each of its 29 ends to photograph a different part of Paris, one unseen by most Americans as well as his Parisian friends. Tom now lives in Lakewood with his wife and cat and is in the process of working on a book of his Lakewood photographs.

Ronnie T. Clark is native to Los Angeles and was raised in South (Central) Los Angeles. He studied photography at Los Angeles City College where he discovered a love for photojournalism after working at the campus publication, The Los Angeles Collegian.

Clark admits that he is drawn to the dark side. Inspired by the works of Bruce Davidson, Weegee, Boogie and others, his work seeks to document the strengths and the weaknesses of his subjects and reveal the underlying social issues behind the images without pretense.

“There’s so much beauty in the world,” says Clark. “If we suddenly stopped believing the stars were beautiful, would that make them any less so?”

SHELLEY GAZIN is an award-winning artist with support from the California Council for the Humanities, Righteous Persons Foundation, and Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, The Durfee Foundation and The James Irvine Foundation.

Specializing in editorial portrait and documentary photography featuring iconic community leaders, artists, scientists and entrepreneurs, selections from GAZIN’s image archive spanning three decades of contemporary culture are in demand for international publication. Limited Edition prints are available for acquisition. Assignments commissioned by major periodicals including Newsweek, Time, Los Angeles Magazine, The L.A. Times, Washington Post and others is represented by Corbis Images and The ImageWorks for ongoing worldwide syndication

GAZIN’s seminal studies in pluralism pay homage to historic and evolving philosophic trends in Jewish practice. Looking for a Rabbi, which she conceived [1998] produced, and exhibited as a site-specific installation at the Skirball Cultural Center [2001] based on her interviews and photographs of over 30 pioneering Rabbis has been exhibited nationally. Currently, GAZIN is conducting primary immersion photo-research and video documentation within the Southern California Persian-Jewish Community. Selections from Becoming Persian: Photographs and Text Threads Illuminating the Iranian-Jewish Community have appeared in numerous group exhibitions and academic symposia and may be arranged by appointment. Excerpts of GAZIN portfolios will be collected at UCLA Young Library, Special Collections.

Other Jewish studies include her ongoing documentation of Paris’ Marais: Hollywood on the Rue des Rosiers [1979-current], and Reconstructing the West Bank, a site-specific installation that journeyed throughout three floors of the UCLA Yitzhak Rabin Hillel Center for Jewish Life/Dortort Center for Creativity [2003].

GAZIN was born in Los Angeles, earning her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Design/Video and California Teaching Credentials at UCLA’s College of Fine Arts where she pioneered electronic media as a teaching methodology in art and cultural partnership.
