A resident of Palm Springs and Los Angeles, California, Nancy Baron was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois, where her cultural identity was indelibly defined.

Her background in film production and documentary filmmaking led to Nancy’s current interest in using the still camera to document subcultures, the worlds in which people find the comfort of fellowship with like-minded companions, and the most human of needs; a place to belong.

Nancy was honored to be one of forty photographers chosen for Onward ‘10, a juried competition at Project Basho in Philadelphia. She received an International Photography Award in 2009 for her “Vegas, I Do” series and has been a finalist in the Palm Springs Photo Festival Slideshow.

Baron’s images have been exhibited in various group shows, including 4×14 at the Julia Dean Gallery in Venice, CA, Electron Salon and Snap to Grid at Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Sacred Memories at Pico House Gallery in Los Angeles, and Far From Home at Photoplace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont
